WIP... bird talk

Even though it's post-Christmas, I'm still getting a couple of orders for little bird tree decorations, it seems some people like them hanging around all year. So, this is where your advice is needed...

What do you think of little bird tree decorations becoming little bird scented sachets? They would be the same design, maybe different colours, and filled with dried lavender buds and a little wool stuffing to retain the softness.

And, does anyone know of any good suppliers of dried lavender in Australia?

I think that sounds like a lovely idea. then you could have them hanging all year round and when christmas comes along pop them onto the tree.

What a lovely idea to make your pretty birds into sachets. I really like the lavendar from here:

I think the added scent is such a great idea! Lavender is especially nice...I think there is another scent that is good for dettering moths - which might be good for the wardrobe.

I think it's a great idea. Another option is dropping essential oils on the wool stuffing, that way you'd have a wider range of scents to chose from?

That's a fabulous idea! Your product will be an all year round seller. I like Fern's idea of the essential oils on the wool stuffing.

That is a great idea! And next Christmas, you could scent them more of a 'christmasy' sent to make them extra special.

That's an awesome idea to put lavender in them! I buy a lot of lavender products (including dried lavender for wheat bags) from a QLD couple who have a farm and sell their stuff at markets around Brisbane. They are not online, but I'll include their details below. They are always happy to take orders over the phone and post stuff out. So far, the products I have bought from them have been fantastic, and super cheap!! Good luck with it :)

It is a great idea. They would be gorgeous for putting in your draws and hanging in the wardrobe too. Apart from the fact that they are too pretty to hide away.

If you have access to a dehydrator (you can get domestic ones for around $100) you could dry your own. Just add orris root powder and lavender oil. Then you can use the dehydrator to dry fruit & vegies as well!!
