Wee Elephant
So, here's the verdict on the Hilary Lang design from Joelle Hoverson's book Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts. Like other Wee Wonderfuls patterns this is super easy and it doesn't take long although pinning and sewing the curves is a little fiddly. I didn't come across any pattern problems. Having said that I do respond better to images than explanations so I felt the pattern could do with some diagrams. The best and certainly most unique thing about this book is that it's categorised into sections based on how long a project is expected to take. I love that! Very useful for whipping up 'last-minute' gifts.
I should mention the cupcake was made by Elizabeth, you might remember it from this post. Actually, I ate one just like it on the weekend ;)
I adore the elephant! I used to have a handmade elephant when I was little, which was made by my nanna. I wonder where he is?
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful. I can't wait to get the book and try my own. I downloaded a free wee pattern - the Wee Bunny - I am going to make it for a friend for her baby shower. I hope it comes out as nice as your elephant.
ReplyDeleteoh that looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI had a cupcake on the weekend just like that one too! (cake testing for my wedding :) )
Honey it sounds so easy when you talk about it but am sure any little elephant i made wouldn't look as cute...or as elepantish for that matter...as this one...
ReplyDeleteThis little softie turned out so well. I love love love your cute elephant! Your cute elephant that is so fond of cupcakes. That's my kind of elephant...hehe.
ReplyDeleteOh the little elephant worked out so beautifully! It is just adorable! I feel like I want to rush out and make one too, great photo, all elephants should like cupcakes! Hope you are having a lovely day.

I just read your interview on the Brisstyle blog (Brisstlye.blogspot.com) and it gives a nice view on creating. I like the idea of restricting your work space to a small area so as not to get out of control. I don't think I could do that. Plus your banner and avatar are fantastic.

ReplyDeleteSuper cute!!!The Wee Wonderfuls blog was one of the first blogs I discoverd, I'll have to get my hands on that book too! Your work is beautiful as usual :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this little fella ... he's beautiful. Such pretty fabric too, are those polka hearts? I love the wee leggy stumps and he just looks so cuddly!
ReplyDeleteA very cute elephant!
ReplyDeleteI love the choice of colors.
I have always loved the patterns that Wee Wonderfuls offer.
So adorable! Aren't elephants just the best soft toys? My daughter, now in her thirties, still has hers made by her grandmother of Liberty fabrics way back when you could afford to buy it. The elephant was made of the Liberty fabrics, not her grandmother.
ReplyDeletethat is ever so sweet. your blog is lovely by the way - I have added it to our designers emporium blog list
ReplyDeletei am sorry but that is the cutest elephant i've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThe elephant is gorgeous. Great work. I didn't get a chance to photograph mine before I handed it over, but it wasn't that cute.
ReplyDeletethat is one of the cutest pictures...ever
