BrisStyle business tips day on Saturday. It was so great to get my head out of the sand (aka sewing room) and spend half a day thinking about what the future may hold and whether or not I want to make the transition from telling myself this is all a hobby to saying it's a business...

I like the big '09 in the last photo! I've been tumbling around the idea of selling things at some point but get stuck in the whole "this is a hobby, it couldn't possibly be a business" thing too.
ReplyDeleteThe business thing in a huge step. I've just spend the last two weks sorting receipts and getting tax paperwork ready. Best of luck with whatever you decide!

Wow! This truly is a creative space. Love seeing your embroidery in progress as always and I've bookmarked that felt link (thanks for that!). But, it's your planning that has really impressed me! Good on you Rebecca! So envious of your organising abilities. I must confess that I thought you were a business not a hobby, but really admire how you're approaching this. Thank. K

ReplyDeleteThe hobby/business question doesn't necessarily have to be resolved. I keep changing my mind back and forth!
ReplyDeleteooh - big things afoot in your creative spaces. To be honest I hadn't noticed you were calling it a hobby - everything is waaay too beautifully crafted and presented!

ReplyDeleteYour winterwwod haul looks lovely. Good luck with your decision making.
ReplyDeleteA tad off-topic for this post, but I wanted to say thank you for the Linen Quest posts. I linked back to your blog series today on a Sydney Brown Owls mailing list. We were helping a few gals find a good natural linen source. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteYes it's a huge decision and I say it sounds right if it's put in this angle: It's a hobby and my career.
Because that’s where I’m heading too so all the best to you!

Business or hobby, as long as you love what you do, it will show in your products! Goodluck on whatever you decide!
ReplyDeleteThe dachshund brooch is fabulous! :)
You already have all the passion of a hobby with all the savvy of a business. And it's a fabulous more-ish combination. You certainly have the right mindset to embrace it as a business and the product is fab!
