A bit of experimenting with texture using a single strand of embroidery thread. I'm trying to put aside 2 hours each week to work on some one-off pieces. I have no idea what this will end up being, it's small enough to be a brooch but maybe not striking enough...
Any suggestions?

Um...definately striking enough for a brooch. It's so natural and really conjures up images of the sea and that salty ocean/seaweed smell of summer afternoons at the beach.
You stitch awesome!
This looks like it should hang on the wall as an art piece! I love the organic feel and delicate design of the bird. :)
what about a tiny, dainty patchwork border and a little hook on the back with which to hang it on the wall?
I think it would make a gorgeous brooch. It's hard to see just how big it is but it could also make a lovely book cover or purse...
Love it!! maybe a Brooch/Pennant.. Yes Yes I would but that heheheh xxoo
mmm, maybe we should collaborate on a bag!
Loving these ideas everyone!
Beccasaurus, sounds like fun, I'll be in contact!
A smelly sachet...but not your standard lavender...a beachy smell...i don't quite know what that smell consists of except for freshness and saltiness and zing!
Hi Rebecca! This is just divine. I love the delicacy of the stitching. All the ideas above are fabulous. My only other thought is that it could be part of a collage piece maybe? Then it could be a stand alone detail and be part of something bigger too perhaps. Loving your previous posts too about focus and direction... I need to do a bit of planning like that too :) Gorgeous inspiration - thank you! Kylie x
Lovely suggestion Bianca.
Hi Kylie, great to see you back!
Hi Rebecca,
I love this design. It has a really pure organic look to it. I think Bianca's idea is a good one, a scented sachet. I can't wait to see what one-off pieces you will come up with in your weekly 2hr slot. Melinda xo
Oh Rebecca, it's stunning, I love it, and definetly striking enough for a brooch. I'd like totally wear it.
Maybe reverse appliqued as a badge on something? Cherrie
Imagine this delightful little bird as a brooch worn with a simple white linen dress. 'Nuff said.
So true Robyn, I'm definitely heading in the direction of brooch I think.
