city girl

I'm not 100% about this one but I'm still posting her here, maybe she'll look better in the morning. I am pleased I found a use for this piece of Anna Maria Horner fabric though! It's been sitting in my stash since the baby quilt!

  4. I really like it - the stance is perfect. The only thing I'm not sure about is the eyes, but I'm not sure how else you would do them. Nic

  5. Oh Rebecca, I love her! Just fabulous work. I'm with Nic on being not so sure about the eyes - maybe put sunnies on her so the fringe doesn't dominate? Love the delicacy of the stitching with the bold graphic pattern of the fabric :) Kx

  8. I think it's very cool and works beautifully with that fabric, just one little query......is she wearing leg warmers?? :) I miss leg warmers and I think I might make some this year ;)

    Keep stitchin, it's good!

  10. I so loved the disaffected girl you embroidered last year, and this one has the same fabulous posture and feel. Plus I love how you've worked it onto that fabric design! Genius.

A suggestion if you're still feeling so-so about her in the morning... perhaps you could add a few short horizontal lines, just partial ones along her legwarmers/socks to bring out the rumpled effect more... because that would look uber-cool!

  13. She's great but I do agree about the eyes - maybe take Kylie's suggestion and put sunnies on her? I love that she is embroidered on the dark fabric but that the other blocks of colour run up the side. Very urban!

  16. Thanks so much everyone, this is so helpful. Yep, it's the eyes I really couldn't get right with the thread, it's so much easier with pencil and paper to get details right. Hmmm... I might just go for the sunglasses idea Kylie :)
