I'm always trying to work out more sustainable ways to package parcels so I love
this tutorial over on
A Beautiful Mess for recycled kraft packaging.
At the moment I'm using recycled envelopes from
Scribble Shop,
Flight Industries and
Chicuff for my smaller items and I'll definitely be aiming to make my own recycled packaging for larger items. It may take a little longer but it will be so worth it. Don't you just love receiving special mail!
The little bookmarks on the package above have been going out with more recent purchases, they're made from recycled scraps of paper and card, mostly old gallery invitations. What do you think? Is the bookmark better than a business card?
The bookmarks are a great idea - I would be much more likely to keep hold of a bookmark than a business card.
ReplyDeleteLove the bookmark idea!
ReplyDeletesome great ideas there.
ReplyDeleteGreat Ideas. I'm with WalnutBaby, I would be more likely to hang onto a bookmark than a business card. Have a lovely week. Melinda xo
ReplyDeleteThe bookmark is a a really great idea! Love these shots! Hmmm... I still haven't done my "packed" post for BrisStyle... sorry!
ReplyDeleteA bookmark - of course, way better than a buisness card! great thinking!
ReplyDeleteLovely Rebecca ... I love that shot of the sewn brown bag with skeches on it ... might try something similar ...
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear you use my envelopes - wow! Will be on the look out for some Brisbane map so I can do some local ones soon.
Just thought you might like this site, http://ecoanimations.com/mapenvelopes.html
you can get the envelopes here, support the eco movement, and even embellish yourself.
Also I love the idea of a bookmark - it's nicer to pass through networks than a business card.
I love the idea of a bookmark - I always tend to lose business cards...even my own!
ReplyDeleteGOing green is the trend at the moment. I myself is getting into the recycle packaging and bookmarks etc too. I am a person who loves receiving anything made from brown kraft paper bag. Just am! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the book mark, its gorg!
ReplyDeleteTotal awesomeness!! My friend does the same idea with bags, but she uses old kids book illustrations! They look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI've been making my business cards out of cereal boxes ... if you cut them to A4 size you can put them straight through the printer, then just cut your cards up to size!
Love your bookmark idea too ...Do you mind if I borrow your bookmark idea? Thanks so much for sharing!
Lovin the business card idea Chrissy, thanks for sharing!!! Yeah go for it with the bookmarks :)
ReplyDeleteYour bookmarks are an excellent idea. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeletelove the bookmarks!
ReplyDeleteBookmark functions perfectly as a business card - with staying power! And as someone who thoroughly appreciates care put into packaging, a mighty big HOORAY for that gorgeous recycled take on things.

The packaging shown on "A Beautiful Mess" is very cute, but it's not really green (the motto is "_reduce_, reuse, recycle" so please take a cloth bag to the store instead of consuming a new paper or plastic one). I suggest reusing packaging that has been mailed to you instead. If you need more, ask friends and neighbors to save their packaging for you, or post a request on Freecycle.
